Innovative Systems/FinScan® (Innovative) a worldwide leader of hi-tech software data management, AML compliance, and Payment Screening solutions is looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our Pittsburgh-based global accounting team.

This is a unique opportunity to work in a highly collaborative environment performing accounts receivable functions and collections related to our clients around the globe. While your main focus will be AR, as part of our collaborative approach, you will be cross trained in AP and other areas of accounting.

The ideal candidate will be highly detail-oriented and known for their accuracy, reliability, and team-oriented approach. AR experience is desired; entry level may be considered.

You will have responsibility for:

  • Full-cycle domestic and international AR, customer billing and maintenance of accurate customer account records.
  • Review of Innovative’s internal order forms (OPFs) ensuring accurate and on-time customer billings. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure correct invoicing.
  • Recording all sales contracts in QuickBooks.
  • Issuing all customer invoices, collecting amounts, and posting cash due in a timely manner.
  • Monitoring aging reports and proactively resolving delinquent accounts - performing collections activities using a thoughtful but results-oriented approach.
  • Researching and resolving billing discrepancies and payment issues. Working with and updating the account management and sales teams regarding past due invoices and collections.
  • Maintaining detailed reports tracking Professional Services projects with thorough understanding of the triggers for revenue recognition and invoicing.
  • Ensuring funds availability, check cash across multiple accounts, update cash worksheets, and transfer cash between multiple accounts (including proper currency exchanges that maximize favorable exchange rates).
  • Preparing monthly documentation to meet month-end closing deadlines.
  • Demonstrating exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in tracking, maintaining, and reporting on financial activity within all Company ledgers to ensure proper financial statement reconciliation between internal, lender, and customer reports/statements.
  • Comprehension of the balance sheet and income statement and their respective accounts.
  • Proactively investigating questionable data, report discrepancies, and providing recommendations for resolution.
  • Provide proactive assistance and support to other team members.
  • Work with multiple currencies and multiple general ledgers.
  • Work closely with accounting staff to ensure that travel expenses that may be charged to customers are processed and invoiced in a timely manner.
  • Other responsibilities as needed

Required qualifications, skills, and experience you need:

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting or equivalent
  • Highly detail oriented with eye for precision and accuracy
  • Ability to work in office 3-4 days per week (4 during training)
  • Proven aptitude for numbers and ability to perform basic mathematical computations quickly and accurately
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality; highly ethical and trustworthy
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and ability to prioritize competing priorities
  • Proven ability to work effectively - both independently and collaboratively
  • Competency in MS Office including Excel

Desired

  • QuickBooks Desktop proficiency
  • Previous experience with international currency a plus
